1st test India vs Bangladesh, Bangladeshi team is on its India tour from 19 September to 12 October 2024. Where a series of two Test matches and a series of three T20 matches are to be played between India and Bangladesh. Recently, the Bangladeshi team defeated the Pakistan team 2-0 in a series of two Test matches last month. But still the Bangladeshi team had to face a big defeat against India.

1st test India vs Bangladesh

The 1st test India vs Bangladesh match was played from Thursday 19 September to 23 September. Which was played at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. In which India defeated Bangladesh by a huge margin of 280 runs. The newly appointed bowling coach of the Indian team, South Africa team’s dangerous bowler Morne Morkel has congratulated the Indian team for starting his coaching with a win. While Morne Morkel had already expressed his hope of victory.

Performance of the Indian team in the first innings of the 1st test India vs Bangladesh match of the series

Bangladesh won the toss and decided to bowl first and let India bat first. And young batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal and captain Rohit Sharma came on the field as openers from the Indian team. But on the ball of Bangladeshi fast bowler Hasan Mahmood, captain Rohit Sharma gave his catch to Nazmul Hossain Shanto. And on the very first ball of the 6th over, captain Rohit Sharma was out after scoring only 6 runs in 19 balls in this 1st test India vs Bangladesh.

And after that two more legendary batsmen of India were also out soon. One of them was Shubman Gill, who returned on zero runs in 8 balls. And the other was Virat Kohli who scored only 6 runs in 6 balls. And on the second ball of the 10th over, after losing three important wickets on the team score of just 34 runs, wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant from the Indian team came on the field.

And on the third ball of the 26th over, Rishabh Pant was also caught out after scoring 39 runs in 52 balls with the help of 6 fours. And Hasan Mahmood took the fourth wicket for himself and his team in the form of Rishabh Pant in this 1st test India vs Bangladesh match.

After this KL Rahul came on the field. But he too could not stay on the field for long. And Zakir Hasan caught his catch on the ball of Mehdi Hasan Miraj. And KL Rahul was caught out after scoring just 16 runs in 52 balls. Whereas shortly before KL Rahul, young batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal was out after scoring 56 runs in 118 balls. And thus, on the team score of 144 runs, India was seen faltering after losing its important 6 wickets in this 1st test India vs Bangladesh.

But then both spinner bowling all-rounders of India Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin made a big partnership of 199 runs in 240 balls and took their team to the score of 376 runs. In which Ravindra Jadeja hit 86 runs in 124 balls with 10 fours and two sixes.  And Ravichandran Ashwin played a century innings by scoring 111 runs in 133 balls with 11 fours and two sixes in this 1st test India vs Bangladesh.

Then the Bangladeshi team bowled out India for 376 runs. In which bowlers Nahid Rana and Mehdi Hasan Miraz took one wicket each for their team. While Taskin Ahmed took three wickets. And bowler Hasan Mahmood performed brilliantly and took five wickets of the Indian team in this 1st test India vs Bangladesh.

Bangladesh’s performance in the first innings of the 1st test India vs Bangladesh match of the series

Shadman Islam and Zakir Hasan came to the field as openers from the Bangladesh team. But both the batsmen could not perform anything special for their team in this 1st test India vs Bangladesh. Shadman Islam scored 2 runs in 6 balls and Zakir Hasan scored 3 runs in 22 balls.

And in this way, Bangladesh team lost three more important wickets at a team score of only 40 runs. In which Mominul Haque scored zero runs in one ball, Mushfiqur Rahim scored 8 runs in 14 balls and the captain Nazmul Hussain Santo himself got out after scoring 20 runs in 30 balls.

After losing 5 wickets, Shakib Al Hasan and Liton Das from the Bangladesh camp handled their team’s innings to a great extent. But no Bangladeshi batsman could last long against the Indian bowlers. And the entire Bangladesh team was reduced to just 149 runs. 

And among the rest of Bangladeshi batsmen, Shakib scored 32 runs in 64 balls, wicketkeeper batsman Liton Das scored 22 runs in 42 balls, Mehndi Hasan Miraz scored 27 runs in 52 balls, Hasan Mahmood scored 9 runs in 22 balls, Taskin Ahmed scored 11 runs in 21 balls, and Nahid Rana scored 11 runs in 11 balls in this 1st test India vs Bangladesh.

If we talk about Indian bowling, then among the Indian bowlers Mohammed Siraj, Akashdeep and Ravindra Jadeja took two wickets each for their team. While dangerous Indian bowler Jasprit Bumrah took 4 wickets for his team.

India’s performance in the second innings of the 1st test India vs Bangladesh match of the series

In the second innings too, the Indian opener batsmen were unsuccessful. And young batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal was out after scoring just 10 runs in 17 balls and captain Rohit Sharma was also out after scoring just 4 runs in 7 balls. And then Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli took over the reins of the team. But soon King Virat Kohli was also out LBW on a ball from Mehndi Hasan Miraj. And the team lost its important three wickets in just 67 runs. 

After that, Indian team’s wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant came out to support Shubman Gill. And both of them performed brilliantly and shared a partnership of 167 runs in 217 balls. In which Shubman Gill played a century innings of 119 runs in 176 balls. And Rishabh Pant also scored his century by scoring 109 runs in 128 balls. Then Rishabh Pant was C & B on 109 runs on the ball of Mehndi Hasan Miraj.

While Shubman Gill remained unbeaten.  And then KL Rahul, supporting Shubman Gill, took his team to a score of 287 runs by losing only 4 wickets. In which KL Rahul scored 22 runs in 19 balls. And the Indian team declared its innings at 287 runs. And out of the 4 wickets of this second innings of the Indian team, two wickets were taken by Mehndi Hasan Miraj.

Bangladesh’s performance in the second innings of the 1st test India vs Bangladesh match of the series

Bangladesh needed 515 runs in their second innings to win the match against India. Or the Bangladesh players could have drawn this match by staying in the match till the fifth day. And once again Bangladesh openers Zakir Hasan and Shadman Islam came on the field. And gave a good start to their team. But then in the second ball of the 17th over, Yashasvi Jaiswal caught Zakir Hasan off Jaspreet bumrah’s ball.

And Zakir Hasan was out after scoring 33 runs in 47 balls. And now captain Nazmul Hussain Santo came to the field to support Shadman Islam from the Bangladesh camp. And then on the third ball of the 22nd over, Shubman Gill caught the catch of Shadman Islam. And Ravichandran Ashwin dismissed Shadman Islam. And Shadman Islam was out after scoring 35 runs in 67 balls.

After this, captain Nazmul Hussain Santo alone kept struggling in the field. And from the other side, wickets kept falling one by one. And the entire Bangladesh team was all out for 234 runs. But in this innings, captain Nazmul Hussain performed brilliantly and scored 82 runs in 127 balls with the help of 8 fours and three sixes. And from the Indian camp, Ravichandran Ashwin displayed brilliant bowling and took 6 wickets for 88 runs in his 21 overs. And he was also the “Man of the Match” in the 1st Test India vs Bangladesh match of this series.

Along with him, Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja also took three wickets. And Indian fast bowler Jaspreet Bumrah also took one wicket. And India defeated Bangladesh by a huge margin of 280 runs in their first Test match. But Indian captain Rohit Sharma did not appear to be in his rhythm in this 1st test India vs Bangladesh match.
